Rainbow Ridge coffee plantation, “Froghill”, nestles in the rain forest in the foothills of the Koonyum Range, the majestic hills overlooking the township of Mullumbimby and reaching to Mt Warning in the North, the very heart of the Rainbow region. The climate and environment in this region provide ideal conditions for growing coffee which, in its natural state, is a rain forest plant.
Rainbow Ridge coffee is grown naturally. We are able to maintain the highest standards of quality control in growing, processing , packaging and marketing our coffee because we carry out or supervise all of these processes personally. At Froghill we farm organically and do not use chemicals or pesticides. We selectively hand-pick our coffee ensuring that it is ripened to perfection and ensuring that it contains no green beans (the source of bitterness found in many coffees). The coffee is cleaned using the fermentation process, washed in pure spring water and is then sun-dried. The pulp from processing is re-cycled as compost and the parchment from hulling is used as mulch.
These processes are labour intensive but we believe processing coffee in this way is worth the effort as it enables us to deliver a boutique coffee to consumers that is among the finest in the world. | |
